Teen, 13, arrested over alleged sexual assault

A teenage boy has been arrested over an alleged sexual assault at a Lochwinnoch play park.

Police have cordoned off the play space on Lochlip Street within the village and have confirmed a 13-year-old boy has been arrested following an alleged incident within the space.

Officers may very well be seen stationed within the park, which is positioned in a residential space, yesterday afternoon, with police tape cordoning off all the play space.

It’s understood the realm has been cordoned off because the early hours of this morning.

One resident, who lives close by, advised Renfrewshire Stay: “Police had been within the park this morning with torches at 5.15am and the entire space was cordoned off.

“Police vehicles have been coming and going all morning with officers swapping about. Apparently they had been right here final night time too."

This afternoon, two police vehicles may very well be seen parked within the space, with quite a few officers standing guard across the youngsters’s play park.

Police Scotland confirmed yesterday that teen had been arrested following an allegation of sexual assault and that enquiries had been at present ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “A 13-year-old male youth has been arrested following an allegation of a sexual assault within the Lochlip Street space of Lochwinnoch.

“Enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the complete circumstances.”
