Spanish cops confirm Scots woman's hotel balcony fall death not being treated as suspicious

Spanish police probing the resort plunge demise of Marie Riley have confirmed they don't seem to be treating it as suspicious.

The 37-year-old from Paisley, Renfrewshire died after falling from a balcony of a room on the Sol Pelicanos Ocas in Benidorm, Spain on Monday.

The vacation resort is the Solana resort within the long-running ITV sitcom Benidorm.

A probe by Spain’s Nationwide Police power is ongoing though officers are already understood to have submitted a preliminary report back to an investigating decide main a routine inquiry.

Jane, 54, from Plymouth, mentioned: "I used to be sitting with my chair to the again of the balcony and my pal Stu was sitting going through it.

"I mentioned 'What was that?' and I noticed one thing simply out the nook of my eye and I flinched.

"Stu shouted 'Oh my god, that was an individual' and he simply misplaced it. All of it occurred so fast.

Jane's worst fears have been realised when she appeared over the balcony as Stuart sprinted down flights of stairs to the reception to inform resort workers of the tragedy.

She added: "Even then, I did not consider it was true.

"I have not stopped excited about it since.

"It should be terrible for her poor spouse. I am unable to think about what she's going by."

A spokesman for the power in Alicante mentioned: “The demise of a British girl in Benidorm on Monday remains to be beneath investigation.

“However there may be nothing at this stage to recommend it was in any manner suspicious.”

Representatives for resort chain Melia, which operates the Sol Pelicanos Orcas failed to answer a number of enquiries.

Employees on the International, Commonwealth and Growth Workplace (FCDO) say they're persevering with to help Marie's household.

A spokesperson informed the Document: "We're helping the household of a British girl following an incident in Benidorm and in touch with the Spanish authorities."
