Russian oil tanker 'not welcome' in Orkney, says UK Transport Minister

A Russian-owned tanker resulting from dock in Scotland has turned away after being to banned from anchoring on the Orkney oil terminal.

Grant Shapps, the UK Transport Secretary, issued an instruction to UK ports to not permit Russian-owned vessels to dock at UK ports.

Orkney and Shetland MP Alistair Carmichael tweeted 'Orkney -1 Putin -0' as information broke that the tanker would now not name on the island oil terminal.

Shapps was urged to maneuver because the Russian NS Champion vessel, owned by Russian firm Sovcomflot, ready to dock in Orkney.
