Glasgow Film Festival removes Russian films from line up due to ongoing conflict

Glasgow Movie Competition has revealed that it has pulled two Russian titles from its line up as a result of ongoing battle in Ukraine.

The competition is ready to kick off subsequent month, however in a press release tonight, the organisers revealed that two movies would now not be showing.

They stated that it was not a mirrored image of the views and opinions on the movie makers themselves however they simply really feel that it could be inappropriate to indicate them as a result of present circumstances.

Taking to Twitter, they stated: "In mild of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and in response to plea from the Ukrainian Movie Academy at the moment, on behalf of the society of Ukrainian movie professionals and tradition figures, Glasgow Movie Competition has determined to withdraw the 2 Russian titles (No Trying Again and The Execution) from our 2022 programme.

"This resolution will not be a mirrored image on the views or opinions of the makers of those titles. We simply consider that it could be inappropriate to proceed as regular with these screenings within the present circumstances.

"All tickets bought on-line for both of those movies will probably be refunded within the subsequent 24 hours. Prospects who bought their tickets personally on the field workplace will probably be given a refund on their subsequent go to.

"Alternative movies to fill the. slots which have been vacated by this resolution will probably be introduced within the subsequent few days."

And plenty of commented on the submit saying it was the precise resolution.

One wrote: "Good resolution...unhappy for the filmmakers although."

Glasgow Movie Competition 2022 will happen 2 - 13 March at Glasgow Movie Theatre, Cineworld Renfrew Road and on-line at Glasgow Movie At Residence.
