Family of Scot who died after being brutally restrained by jail guards given fresh hope of answers

Family members of death-in-custody sufferer Allan Marshall have been given recent hope of solutions following a three-hour assembly with Scotland’s most senior prosecutor.

Mr Marshall died in March 2015 after being brutally restrained by jail officers on the capital’s Saughton Jail.

The case provoked public fury after the Sunday Mail went to courtroom to disclose surprising footage of the incident displaying him being dragged bare down a hall with a towel over his face.

His older brother Alistair and aunt Sharon MacFadyen met Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain on the Crown Workplace in Edinburgh on Friday.

Sharon, from Rutherglen, Glasgow, stated “We're much more hopeful of lastly getting solutions to all of the questions we have now been asking since Allan’s dying.

On the time of his dying, Mr Marshall, 30, from Glasgow, ran his personal recycling enterprise. He was on remand and due for launch. He died after spending three days in a coma at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, following his restraint on the jail.
