Tennessee deputy found shot, dead in burning home

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee man was charged Monday within the slaying of a sheriff’s deputy who was discovered lifeless with a gunshot wound inside her burning residence, officers stated.

Deputy Savanna Puckett, 22, didn’t report for work Sunday night. A colleague went to examine on her and located her residence in flames, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Workplace stated.

Firefighters discovered Puckett’s physique inside. She had been shot and was declared lifeless on the scene, the sheriff’s workplace stated.

James Jackson Conn, 27, of Smyrna, an acquaintance, was arrested after a standoff Monday and charged with first-degree homicide and aggravated arson. Conn was being held with out bond, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation stated. It was not identified if he had an legal professional.

Puckett had labored with the sheriff’s workplace for 4 years, officers stated.
