MADRID (AP) — Saturnino de la Fuente, a Spaniard described by Guinness World Data because the world’s oldest man, died Tuesday on the age of 112 years and 341 days, the data company stated.
De la Fuente handed away at house in León, a metropolis in northwest Spain, it stated.
Guinness World Data named De la Fuente because the world’s oldest man in September, when he was 112 years and 211 days. It stated he was born within the Puente Castro neighborhood of León on Feb. 11, 1909.
De la Fuente was a cobbler by commerce and began working in a shoe manufacturing facility at age 13, Spain’s state-run information company EFE reported.
He survived the Spanish flu pandemic that broke out in 1918 and along with his spouse Antonina had seven daughters and one son, adopted by 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, it stated.
He was to be buried Wednesday at a neighborhood cemetery, EFE stated.
