STONY MOUNTAIN, Man. - Correctional Service Canada says an inmate at a jail in southern Manitoba has died in its custody.
The federal government company says James Flatfoot, who was an inmate at Stony Mountain Establishment north of Winnipeg, died Sunday.
It says he had been serving a sentence of 5 years, three months and 22 days for theft, possession and use of a firearm and flight from a peace officer.
Correctional Service Canada says Flatfoot’s subsequent of kin have been notified.
It additionally says its coverage requires that police and the coroner be notified.
The company didn't present any particulars of how Flatfoot died, however says it is going to be reviewing the circumstances of his loss of life.
