CFIB urges Ottawa to reverse trucker vaccine rule amid driver shortage, higher costs

TORONTO - Canada’s largest affiliation of small and medium-sized companies is urging the federal authorities to reverse its coverage banning unvaccinated truck drivers from coming into Canada.

The Canadian Federation of Unbiased Enterprise says the vaccine mandate is creating provide shortages and driving up delivery prices.

CFIB president Dan Kelly says companies had been already going through a serious provide chain crunch and value will increase on the whole lot from gas to constructing supplies.

He says Ottawa’s border coverage threatens to exacerbate these points at a time when small companies can’t deal with any further prices or uncertainty.

The CFIB represents 95,000 small- and medium-sized enterprises in Canada, together with roughly 500 within the trucking sector.

The enterprise group says the transportation trade has been one of many hardest hit by labour shortages, with a latest survey discovering 68 per cent of companies within the sector are unable to rent sufficient workers.
