The top of the Ulster Farmers Union has mentioned he’s “struggling” to see how the NI Protocol Invoice may enhance life for farmers in Northern Eire.
The Dairy Council, which represents dairy farmers, mentioned the invoice would jeopardise NI dairy farmers’ £600m annual commerce with the Republic and EU, which has been safeguarded by the protocol and represents one-third of gross sales of milk right here.
UFU president David Brown, who has a sheep and beef farm in Co Fermanagh, tells Belfast Telegraph Enterprise Editor Margaret Canning the organisation's place on the protocol was extra “nuanced” as there have been many forms of farmers who had confronted issues with the protocol.
In an in-depth interview for the BelTel podcast, Mr Brown says the NI Protocol Invoice may benefit retailers however provides: “I’m struggling when it comes to the agriculture aspect of this to see how this might profit farmers."
