Larne footballer hit with 10-game ban by IFA for wearing top that appears to show pro-IRA slogan

A Larne footballer who was photographed in a t-shirt showing to indicate a pro-IRA slogan has been hit with a 10-game ban by the Irish Soccer Affiliation.

John Herron has been accused of bringing the sport into disrepute.

His membership has been fined £500.

That is commonplace process and there's no suggestion Larne have been conscious of, or authorised, Herron's actions.

The midfielder brought about controversy after sporting the t-shirt finally Sunday’s Wolfe Tones gig on the Feile in west Belfast.

Larne FC introduced on Monday that they might be suspending Herron “with instant impact”.
